SEKOU
Founder, Executive Producer & Creative Director
Sekou’s creative career began with music. In 2004, he was producing local artists in the DMV, developing an ear for the rhythm, emotion, and detail that give a record its identity. By 2008, he had signed with a major music production company. Music was his first language as a storyteller, and it would shape how he approached everything that followed.
That same year, his creative partnership with Lisa Danielle began. Their partnership is the foundation of Reed Firm Collective, shaped through years of developing ideas, making creative decisions, encountering pitfalls, and experiencing wins and losses. Since 2008, they have built together, carrying ideas through uncertainty, setbacks, and breakthroughs, and doing the work required to bring them into the world.
As Sekou’s interest in the visual side of entertainment grew, his work expanded into audio engineering and music supervision for television and film. He became increasingly interested in the relationship between sound and image: how a musical choice changes the meaning of a scene, how silence creates tension, and how timing determines what an audience feels.
In 2014, that curiosity led to his first opportunity to edit music videos through the work he and Lisa were developing for her music career. Editing gave him another way to compose, working with performance, pacing, and imagery. His work on “Living Room” connected those disciplines directly. Sekou produced the song and edited its music video; the track was also featured in Honey: Rise Up and Dance.
His music career continued to grow in scope. In 2019, as President of A&R for Khao Music Group in Atlanta, Sekou managed a $2.5 million budget for a hip-hop project involving more than 50 major artists, including Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, T.I., and Joyner Lucas. His work also extended into digital distribution, audio monetization, and digital rights, helping independent labels understand how to own, protect, and monetize their intellectual property.
Across film and commercial work, Sekou developed his practice as a creative director, senior film editor, music supervisor, and post-production supervisor. In collaboration with GFACTR Films, he has delivered projects for Disney, DTLR/Nike, DTLR/New Balance, Xfinity, Revolt TV, and CBS/Apple TV. Those experiences brought together the disciplines that had shaped his journey: music, sound, visual storytelling, and the creative judgment required to guide a project through completion.
Today, Sekou co-owns and operates Reed Firm Collective with Lisa Danielle. His work begins with defining what a story needs to communicate, what an audience should understand, and how the creative vision should take shape. He brings that thinking into film, presentations, and AI-assisted production, with human judgment guiding the work.
The instruments have changed and the canvas has widened. The instinct that first drew him to music remains: finding the feeling inside an idea and giving it a form people can connect with.
